Dear friends,
My ancestral name is kʷəlasəltən, my english name is Mack Paul and I am from Musqueam.
I am a Coast Salish, two-spirited, queer, disabled artist from Musqueam, actively practicing art since 2021. I was born and still live in my traditional territory in what is now known as Vancouver, bc.
while i currently have not been directly mentored i am constantly inspired by other Coast Salish artists, especially those from Musqueam such as Brent Sparrow, Richard Campbell, and Susan Point.
my artistic style incorporates contemporary and traditional elements. my creative process always includes researching, hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓, the language of the musqueam people, the language of this land. i am a young speaker and advocate for language revitalization. musqueam no longer has fluent speakers but it is my hope that my small contributions in learning and sharing hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ that the language will thrive once again on these lands.
It is a tremendous honour and privilege to have my creations throughout my traditional territory. i look forward to continue sharing my own stories and the stories of my ancestors through my artistic works.
